Service Description
In-Bound Toll-Free, or 800, service allows toll charges for long distance calls to be charged to the called number instead of the caller. A local number is identified as the terminating number, and a toll-free service is assigned to it. The function of the terminating number is not affected, but calls to the toll-free service will ring on that extension.
UCSB departments may arrange through Communications Services for in-bound toll-free service to be recharged directly to their university accounts. Depending on the vendor, service can be configured to allow calls from all of the U.S. and Canada, or to restrict calls to limited geographic areas and specific times of day. Communications Services will assist you in determining which vendor and options best fit your needs.
