Service Description
Communications Services provides repairs for telephone and cable television services, and supports repairs for data and networking services.
Before submitting a request for repairs, please refer to our Troubleshooting page to see if you can resolve the problem independently.
Telephone, Voice, Two-Way Radio, and Cable Television Services Repairs
Use our online Report a Problem form to get help with telephone, voice, two-way radio, and cable television service problems.
Alternatively, send email to [email protected], call our Help Desk at extension 8700, or send a fax to extension 7272. Communications Services will open a trouble ticket to resolve the problem.
When reporting the problem, please supply the following information.
- The name, department, and telephone number of the person reporting the trouble, and of the principal subscriber to the service (if different). This will allow a repair technician to contact someone familiar with the details.
- The specific location of the problem (e.g., the building and room number).
- A description of the problem. This may be as simple as "I can't get a dial tone." The more information you provide, the easier it will be to isolate the problem.
- If the trouble is with a telephone, the Help Desk will need to know whether it is single- or multi-line.
Data Service Repairs
Data service problems should be reported to department LAN administrators or other departmental desktop support persons. Communications Services and the OIT Network Operations Center will work with them to resolve the problems.
Repair Costs and Responsibilities
When costs of performing maintenance or repair exceed $500, Communications Services will not continue the work until the requestor has been informed of the incurred recharges and approves continuance of the activity.
