Communications Services at Distant Locations

service at distant locations

Service Description

Sometimes university personnel require telephone and data communications service at locations outside the Goleta/Santa Barbara area – at a field research site, for example. Often the telephone service at these locations is provided by a company other than Verizon. Communications Services will contact the appropriate telephone company to establish service. We will coordinate installation of the service, process the monthly invoices, and recharge the campus customer on whatever University account number the customer requests, at no additional cost.

Please note that this service differs from our Off-Campus Communications Services, which provide voice and data communications for university personnel in buildings owned or leased by the university away from campus but within the local area.

Getting Service at a Distant Location

To obtain service at distant locations, an individual with signature authority on the account to be charged should send an email request to [email protected]. The request should include:

  • A description of the service you are requesting (voice only, data only, data and voice, broadband data).
  • The location where you need the service.
  • The university account number that will be charged for the service.
  • Contact information to coordinate the service with on-site personnel.

If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at (805) 893-8700.
